Both for reasons of beauty and atmospheric aesthetics, as well as to maximise the available light when ascending, some climbers like to coordinate their summit attempt with the full moon.
Where in the sky will the full moon be?
Nonetheless, instead of merely selecting the nearest full moon date that is convenient, it is beneficial to have a visual representation of where the moon will be in the sky while approaching the summit from high camp prior to the climb.

Why some like to summit at night on a new moon
Not all climbers embarking on a nighttime summit attempt will consider climbing during a full moon as the most favourable option. In fact, a new moon offers superior conditions for stargazing, which is why many astronomy enthusiasts strive to synchronise their summit bid with a time when the weather is clearest and the night sky is darkest.
For those who prioritise star viewing, it is recommended to plan the climb during the period when the weather is expected to be the driest (June to September) and aim for a summit attempt during a new moon phase.
